NotarEase is India's only trusted platform whose eNotarised documents have been accepted by courts in India.
Everything you need to know about online notarisation with NotarEase.
NotarEase is a platform that you can use to electronically sign and notarise documents. The process of signing and notarising documents is 100% online on NotarEase. Our notaries are specifically vetted and trained for the purposes of online notarisation.
You can find our one-pager process flow chart to understand the NotarEase process at https://www.notarease.com/HowNotarEaseWorks.pdf.
We have used NotarEase for filing affidavits and other documents before different courts. The Delhi High Court has accepted the process adopted by NotarEase in multiple orders, available at https://notarease.com/resources. You can use NotarEase for electronically signing and notarising any PDF document. Please note that NotarEase does not offer any legal advice and makes no guarantees about legal applicability or validity; users use NotarEase at their own risk. We recommend engaging a qualified advocate / lawyer for advice specific to your circumstances.
You can sign using: Aadhaar e-sign mode (requires mobile-linked Aadhaar card); USB token based DSC mode; or NE-KYC mode (passport required) - recommended for international residents / citizens who do not have an Aadhaar card or USB based DSC.
We recommend the Aadhaar e-sign mode if you have your Aadhaar card and the linked phone number (to receive the OTP during signing). You will need access to this phone number during the notarisation meeting. Otherwise, we recommend the NE-KYC mode. More info: https://www.notarease.com/WhatIsNE-KYC.pdf.
We only accept Aadhaar card or Passport as ID, depending on your signature mode: Aadhaar e-sign mode - Aadhaar card; USB token based DSC mode - Aadhaar card or Passport; NE-KYC mode - Passport.
Yes. You do not need an Aadhaar card or USB token DSC to use NotarEase. You can use our NE-KYC method to electronically sign and notarise documents.
DSC refers to Digital Signature Certificate. In NotarEase's context, it refers to the USB-token based digital signature method, which requires inserting a USB-token device to sign documents. You can acquire a DSC from any licensed certifying authority, for example eMudhra (https://emudhradigital.com/buy-certificate).
NE-KYC (NotarEase-KYC) is our in-house solution for online signing, where the signatory goes through a short KYC video call before their first notarisation appointment. It is for signatories who do not possess a mobile-linked Aadhaar card or USB token DSC. A valid passport is required. More details: https://www.notarease.com/WhatIsNE-KYC.pdf.
Email us at hello@notarease.com to book your NE-KYC appointment before your first notarisation appointment. The cost of the NE-KYC appointment is covered in the cost of the notarisation appointment.
You need your original passport. The appointment should not take longer than 15 minutes.
No. The NE-KYC appointment must be done separately, before the notarisation appointment. Once you have been KYC'd, you can use NotarEase without Aadhaar / DSC.
Generally, no. For documents drafted for filing in India, you do not need apostille or legalisation if the signatory signs from outside India, because the document is signed and notarised in the presence of a Notary registered and qualified in India. Courts have accepted such documents (orders at https://notarease.com/resources). However, this may differ by document type and source, so we recommend engaging a qualified advocate / lawyer.
You can find our pricing at https://www.notarease.com/pricing. If you are a lawyer or law firm wishing to use NotarEase regularly, reach out to us for a tailor-made pricing structure.
At NotarEase, we value our clients' time. Getting documents notarised physically and legally is a cumbersome process. NotarEase offers a convenient and legal solution for those who value doing things right, from the comfort of their home.
The NotarEase process includes electronically signing the document during your online notarisation appointment, so generally you do not need to sign it beforehand. This may not always be the case; we recommend engaging a qualified advocate / lawyer for your circumstances.
Prepare the document as per the Document Preparation Guide at https://www.notarease.com/DocumentPreparationGuide.pdf. Key points: the document must be final and ready for signatures; leave a margin at the bottom of each page for electronic signatures; a file size limit applies to the PDF; and you can only sign and notarise one PDF at a time.
Email us at hello@notarease.com and we will provide time slots that work for you. Additional charges may apply for slots not available on our website by default.
Yes. You and your client sign up on NotarEase and upload your IDs. When booking as an organiser, enter your client's email and untick 'Organiser is a signatory' so only your client signs. You can add multiple signatories this way and organise the meeting for your client.
Changing / compiling / modifying the PDF after signing electronically can invalidate the signatures. If needed, you may use the Print PDF function to preserve the visual features of the signatures, but this invalidates/removes the digital signatures. You are responsible for preserving the original PDF with valid electronic signatures and for using it responsibly and legally. NotarEase is not liable for any unauthorised use or misuse of signed / notarised documents.
The Notary may, at their sole discretion, ask the signatory / signatories to provide oral / written confirmation relating to the contents of the documents, including annexures, attachments, or other documents referred to in the document being signed.
Electronic signatures are placed on the bottom left of all pages; the notary seal and signature on the bottom right of all pages. Leave sufficient space at the bottom of the document to accommodate these (depending on the number of signatories). See the Document Preparation Guide: https://www.notarease.com/DocumentPreparationGuide.pdf.
All signatories and witnesses must be present with a device that has a working camera and microphone, video on. Keep the original of the ID you provided (based on your signature mode), and have access to your Aadhaar-linked mobile if using Aadhaar e-sign mode. You need a working internet connection, microphone and camera. The Notary may decline notarising at their sole discretion. The Notary takes screenshots of the video call, which - along with a signature certificate issued by eMudhra - are shared with the signatories and organiser by email after the meeting.
All signatories and the organiser receive the electronically signed and notarised document within a few minutes of completing the notarisation meeting.
